


The Washington County Amateur Radio Club (W5AUM) successfully hosted its Fall 2025 Amateur (Ham) Radio Technician License Course, providing local residents with the opportunity to earn their FCC entry-level amateur radio license and learn the fundamentals of radio communication.
The two-day course was held September 27–28, 2025, and introduced participants to the basics of amateur radio, including radio operating procedures, safety, and foundational technical concepts. Interest in the course was strong, with 12 individuals attending the training. By the end of the weekend, all 12 participants successfully passed the FCC Technician-Class Amateur Radio examination, earning their amateur radio licenses and joining a worldwide community of radio operators.
The Washington County Amateur Radio Club is grateful to Christ Lutheran Church for generously providing the use of their facilities for the class. Their continued support helps make it possible for the club to host educational events that introduce new people to amateur radio and strengthen community preparedness.
Amateur radio operators play an important role in public service and emergency communications, while also enjoying a technically rich hobby that encourages experimentation, learning, and worldwide communication. For many new operators, the Technician license is the first step toward exploring radio technology and becoming involved in community service activities.
The club congratulates the 12 newly licensed operators who completed the Fall 2025 course and looks forward to hearing them on the air and seeing them participate in future club activities.
