Amateur Radio operators come from every corner of society — friends, neighbors, students, engineers, truck drivers, doctors, and public servants. What unites them is a shared fascination with wireless communication and a spirit of curiosity that encourages people to experiment, learn, and help one another along the way.
Across the United States, that community continues to grow. Today there are more than 770,000 licensed amateur radio operators nationwide, making the United States home to the largest amateur radio population in the world. Together they are part of a global community of more than 3 million operators who connect across cities, countries, and continents using little more than radios, antennas, and a shared passion for communication.
That global community has a strong presence right here in Washington County. With more than 60 members, the Washington County Amateur Radio Club brings together local operators who share knowledge, mentor new licensees, support community events, and provide volunteer emergency communications when needed.
On any given day you might hear our members chatting on the local repeater, experimenting with new radio technologies, or making contacts with stations across the country and around the world. Amateur radio blends technology, service, and friendship, and the Washington County Amateur Radio Club is proud to be part of the fabric of Washington County.
The following officers help guide the club’s activities, support our members, and help ensure the Washington County Amateur Radio Club continues to grow and serve the community.
